Spa Experience in Ubud, Bali

Hi Travel Buddies,

We have been looking forward to indulge in spa to relax and rejuvenate in Ubud, Bali after so much sun, sand and sea holidays we had at the Gili Islands.

Ubud is really the right place if you are looking to pamper yourselves from head to toe in very affordable prices.  We are happy to share our spa experience.  🙂

We decided on Zen Bali Spa based on its good location, affordable prices and good reviews from trip advisor.  Zen Bali Spa is located in central ubud, near the famous Monkey Forest and Bebek Bengil (Dirty Duck Restaurant).

We had wanted to go for the spa after hours of transfer from fast boat and coach from Gili Trawangan but all the couple rooms was fully booked in the evenings.   As we only planned to stay 2 nights in Ubud, we decided to take the early morning slot the next day.  So our giveaway tip here is “make reservation early”.

There are many different treatments on the menu and we decided on Mandi Lulur – a traditional javanese body massage followed by a body scrub and floral bath.  The entire treatment lasted for about 1 hour 45 minutes for Rp 150,000 (about SGD21) per person.

How did we feel about the spa?  While we cannot award 5 stars for their massage and service, we felt good and refreshing after the treatment.

Our second spa experience in Ubud was pedicure spa at Milano Spa in the evening.  It was a spontaneous act as we wanted to do something relaxing in our last night in Ubud, after our “Banana Chicken” sumptuous dinner.

Guess what?  This was Kelvin’s first pedicure experience!  Who say guys cannot pamper their feet? 😛

We must applaude the ladies at Milano Spa for their excellent service.  Their skills were not fantastic, well one of them nip Shelly’s cuticles too deep on one nail and it bleeded a little…Ooops, their service was still excellent.  They served us tea and beverages.  What impressed upon us was that they offered a pair of open toes sandals to Shelly so that she can keep her nails pretty.  How thoughtful and considerate!

So we paid Rp80,000 for Shelly and Rp70,000 (SGD 10) for Kelvin.  The extra Rp10,000 for the pretty little flowers on Shelly’s toes.  We walked back to our accomodation with our, pampered and happy feet. 🙂

Our pampered, happy feet!

Milano Spa is also located in Central Ubud, very convenient location.
