Scoot – the SIA budget carrier first destination to Sydney

Hi Travel Buddies,

Fancy flying on SIA on a shoestring budget to Sydney?  Scoot, the SIA’s medium to long haul budget carrier announced Sydney as its first destination to begin flights next year, June 2012.

We thought it is a smart move to choose Sydney as there is no direct flight currently served by any budget airlines.  A quick check on ZUJI Singapore  booking website on normal airfare for two to Sydney next year June costs at least $1081 for a return trip.  Scoot maintained so far that their airfares will be 40 per cent cheaper than regular full-service carriers, so that translates to about $600 plus airfare to Sydney.  If this is true, it will be certainly cheaper than even promotional airfare from the big boys airlines.

This is great news to budget travellers like us and we look forward to the announcement of more destinations to be revealed by March and that is also when tickets sales begin. 🙂

Fast Facts about Scoot:

Scoot expects to begin flying from mid-2012 with a fleet of four Boeing B777-200 aircraft bought from parent company SIA and will fly to Australasia, China and other destinations.  The airline targets to have 14 planes by 2016, with longer-term plans to fly to India, Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
