One night stay at Citrus Hotel, Johor Bahru Review

Hi Travel Buddies,

If you have read our last post, you will know that we stayed one night at Citrus Hotel, Johor Bahru.

After reading some good reviews from and attracted by the colourful, bright, cheery room photos presented on the hotel website, we went ahead to book via ZUJI Singapore.

It is without doubt that the hotel’s location is very good.  We spotted the hotel from the CIQ building – Custom Immigration Quarantine Complex (CIQ) when we were walking towards City Square Shopping Mall.  It is located just across the road from City Square Shopping Mall, next to Merlin Tower.

While the exterior of the hotel looks pretty run down, the feel was totally different when you stepped into the hotel lobby.  The hotel is newly refurbished and we heard the front desk staff mentioned to walk-in guests that the rooms were fully booked.  Checked in time was supposed to be 2pm but the front desk manager allowed us to check in half an hour earlier into one room first while they get ready the other room.

Upon checked in to our superior room, we were pleased that the room and bathroom was very spacious.  Simple toiletries like shower gel and shampoo was provided and the room is very clean.

While we booked our room with breakfast, we did not expect a lot from a budget hotel.  We were presently surprised that the breakfast was a good, reasonable spread of buffet at their cafe next morning.

However, there is one small inconvenience that we have to put up was that only one working lift at the moment as the hotel is still undergoing refurbishment.  The other was that the complimentary WIFI in the room does not seem to work well.  When we feedback to the front desk, they claimed that the server was down.  As we were rather tired later at night, we did not try to connect after they restarted the server.

Overall, this is a nice budget hotel that we find value for money at S$65 per night and we will most likely return in future.
